I remember wrecking my first motorcycle. Vividly.
I must have been about 14 when I tried to take a corner too fast and didn't see the loose gravel. I carried the bike home in pieces.
Sin is like loose gravel. When we think we don't have to worry about it, we quickly start to slide out and usually become a casualty.
Sin is also like a slippery slope because it tends to lead us downward. It rarely starts at the bottom, but often we end up there simply because we were overconfident. "Pride goes before a fall".
Humility acknowledges that we are all vulnerable. It will also help us stay upright. And best of all, "Unto Him (Christ) who is able to keep us from falling".... Jesus will keep us if we will stay humble. Let your confidence be in Christ today, and not in yourself.
